A brand you can stand inside.

What it is

The airtuerk headquarters in the Westhafen building in Frankfurt, recognised at the German Design Award 2026 as Winner in Excellent Architecture, Interior Architecture (Public).

Whose work this is

Mine in part. The award went to a project delivered by an internal team of management, marketing and systems, working with Roomhero as design partner. I contributed concept and the translation of the brand into physical space, and coordinated between the internal side and the partner.

Saying that precisely matters more than claiming it. An award for a building is never one person's, and a personal site that implies otherwise invites exactly the question it was meant to avoid.

What the jury picked out

Open lounge zones with an echo of airport lounges. A quiet world in black and white, brought to life through deliberate colour accents. Timeless materials chosen for durability rather than for a photograph.

The underlying decision was to treat the space as somewhere to be, not only somewhere to work:

  • The Business Lounge is deliberately work-free. No meetings, no calls. A place to eat, listen to something, and stop.
  • The Executive Lounge receives guests as guests, not as meeting attendees.
  • Focus areas, project space and quiet rooms carry the rest.

Why it belongs on this page

Because it is the same discipline as everything else here, in a different material. A brand system that only exists in a file is a proposal. One that survives being built at 1:1, in a building people spend forty hours a week in, has been tested in the only way that counts.

Also because it is the one piece of work on this list where the verification is public and external, rather than something I describe myself.
